JUSTINE BIEBER FINALLY SHAVED OFF HIS DREAD

Red alert, everyone. Justin's dreads are gone and all is right in the world.
The pop music star posted a few pictures on Twitter and Instagram of his freshly shorn head.
HOW BATHROOM BILLS STARTED AN ONLNE WAR AGAINST TRANSGENDER RIGHT

YouTube star Joey Salads recently watched a video entitled "What Pisses Me Off About Transgender Bathrooms" and came up with an idea for one of his signature "social experiments."
Salads, who declined to provide his legal name for privacy reasons, wanted to test how women react to seeing a visibly transgender woman in a public bathroom.
He quickly researched gender identity online and chatted with two friends who he says represent opposite sides of the argument.
Then Salads, 22, donned a dress, purse and blonde wig, and let the cameras roll as he followed women into a public bathroom in a north Hollywood apartment complex. The video, released on Monday, has since been watched more than one million times.\
Though the camera remains outside of the bathroom during filming, women can be heard shouting their disbelief and disapproval. Their comments may seem scripted or rehearsed, but Salads says they are spontaneous
He believes the video appeals to people with different political views. Conservatives, he says, can cite the women's outrage as proof of why so-called bathroom bills like the one recently passed in North Carolina are necessary. To transgender people, the video could be evidence of intolerance.
"It’s not OK to discriminate against anybody," says Salads. "I made the video as unbiased — you could interpret it to support any side of the argument."
The power of a meme
As the battle over transgender rights ripples across the U.S., opponents and supporters are fighting to define the debate online with memes, videos, Facebook posts and tweets that call for acceptance and equality — or that invoke fears about safety.Yet, some of these messages, transgender advocates say, play into dangerous stereotypes of trans people as confused, inauthentic and untrustworthy.
On Tuesday, former pitcher and ESPN baseball analyst Curt Schilling received considerable backlash when he shared an anti-trans meme on his Facebook page. He later deleted the post, which seemed to feature a large man wearing an unkempt wig and a risqué outfit, but he'd already essentially endorsed its inflammatory content.

While no one expects a meme to convey nuance or spare ridicule, they can blithely inflict pain on unwitting subjects. That's what happened earlier this year to Leon Mitchell II, a cancer survivor who resembles NBA player Steph Curry.
The meme, "Meth Curry," contrasted Mitchell's frail face with Curry's image. In an Instagram response, Mitchell said he'd struggled for years with how cancer treatment had affected his appearance.

#WeJustNeedtoPee
Kasey Suffredini, chief program officer for the non-discrimination campaign Freedom for All Americans, says anti-trans memes have the potential to expose transgender people to harm. That might be especially true for trans women who are not interested in physical or surgical alterations to make them imperceptible to strangers, or do not possess the financial and medical resources to change their appearance so fundamentally.
"Underneath the caricature and mockery is casting judgement on somebody’s worth and dignity," Suffredini says. "Let’s say that is a picture of a transgender person. So what? They are just as worthy of dignity and fairness and equality as anyone else."
Transgender people have created their own viral content in response to the North Carolina legislation. Some trans men have tweeted selfies trying to highlight the absurdity of being forced to use the women's restroom.
The hashtag #wejustneedtopee continues to collect emotional first-person accounts from transgender people about the travails of bathroom access. One trans man even created business cards to distribute in the women's restroom, acknowledging a mutual discomfort and urging the recipient to contact their legislator about the bill.

Suffredini knows some of the improvisational tactics on social media might not be effective or well-received with people who aren't already allies, but he thinks it's important to see a range of responses from the transgender community — from emotional to logical to humorous.
"There are a lot of myths and stereotypes about transgender people," he says. "It’s really important that we do everything we can to ensure that more Americans meet [them]."
A SUPER FAST STAR SYSTEM DISCOVERED BY ASTRONOMERS THAT BREAKS CURRENT PHYSICS MODELS NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN THOSE SPEEDS
Thousands of light-years away, on the
outskirts of the Milky Way, astronomers have detected something no one’s
ever seen before - a binary star
(two stars orbiting a common centre of mass) that’s moving so fast,
it’s clocked speeds that almost rival the escape velocity of our galaxy
.
What does that mean? Something must
be helping this star system gather such incredible momentum, and until
now, the best explanation we had for hyper-velocity stars is that they
were being propelled by the supermassive black holes that lurk in the
centre of a galaxy. But here’s the thing: this binary star is nowhere
near a supermassive black hole.
Named PB3877, and located about 18,000
light-years away from Earth, this binary star is not the first
hyper-velocity star we’ve found in our galaxy. Astronomers have so far
identified more than 20 hyper-velocity stars that seem hell-bent on
getting the eff out of our cosmic neighbourhood.
One such hyper-velocity star is US 708, which was confirmed in 2005
to be hurtling through the Milky Way at about 745 miles per second
(that's 1,198 km per second, or 2.7 million miles per hour) - fast
enough to escape the gravitational pull of the galaxy.
"At that speed you could travel from Earth to the Moon in 5 minutes," said one of the researchers who found US 708, Eugene Magnier from the University of Hawaii. US 708 is expected to leave the Milky Way in about 25 million years.
But all other hyper-velocity stars
we’ve found up till this moment have been single stars. This is the
first time astronomers have found a double-star system that’s achieved
hyper-velocity speeds.
"We studied hyper-velocity stars since 2005, the year of discovery of the first three," said one of the researchers behind the discovery,
Ulrich Heber from the Friedrich Alexander University in Germany. "In
the meantime about two dozen have been found, but all are single, none
has a companion directly visible in its spectrum."
The fact that PB3877 is zooming
through the outskirts of the Milky Way is another thing that sets it
apart from anything else astronomers have found. All the other
hyper-velocity stars we know about have been relatively close to the
supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy, and physicists have
generally agreed that that’s how their incredible acceleration rates
could be explained.
Now we have something that puts this hypothesis into serious question.
PB3877 was first identified by
researchers using data from the Sloan Digital Sky-Survey (SDSS) data in
2011, but back then, they thought it was a single star. Now, thanks to
new observations made with the 10-metre Keck II telescope in Hawaii and
the 8.2-metre Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile, the team in Germany
was able to confirm that it was both a hyper-velocity star, and a binary
system.
It appears to consist of one super-hot star that's more than five times hotter than our Sun, and a companion that's 1,000 degrees cooler than our Sun.
"When we looked at the new data, much to our surprise, we found weak absorption lines that could not come from the hot star," says astronomer Thomas Kupfer from the California Institute of Technology.
"The cool companion, just like the hot primary, shows a high radial
velocity. Hence, the two stars form a binary system, which is the first
hyper-velocity wide binary candidate."
They also managed to map out its path
to determine that it could not have originated from the centre of the
Milky Way. This means it cannot have been accelerated by a supermassive
black hole.
"From our calculations we can exclude
the galactic centre as the place of origin, because its trajectory
never came close to it," said team member Eva Ziegerer.
"Other ejection mechanisms, such as stellar collisions and a supernova
explosion, have been proposed, but all of them would lead to the
disruption of a wide binary."
Instead, the team hypothesises that
either a crapload of dark matter must be surrounding the star like a
kind of 'halo' to keep it stable at such incredible speeds at the edge
of the galaxy, or PB3877 could
be an intergalactic 'intruder', formed in a neighbouring galaxy before
infiltrating ours. It’s not clear whether it will eventually make it
outside the Milky Way.
"We used different mass models to
calculate the probability that the star will actually remain bound to
the galaxy. Only for the most massive galaxy model this is the case," said one of the researchers,
Andreas Irrgang from the Dr Karl Remeis-Observatory in Germany. "This
makes PB3877 an excellent target to probe dark matter halo models."
The findings have been published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters, and according to the team, the mere
existence of this binary system puts pressure on accepted models and
our current understanding of dark matter in the Milky Way. Somebody tell Stephen Hawking to get his spacecraft out there to give us a better look.

THE MOST EXPENSIVE DOMAIN NAMES OF ALL TIMES
What's in a web address?
Quite a lot of cash.
We scoured domain name resource DN Journal
and put together a list of documented million-dollar, domain-only
".com" sales. Some have been squatted on for 20 years and have only
recently traded hands.
Unsurprisingly, sex- and gambling-related domains are some of the biggest money makers.
NOTE: Web businesses have other assets and are not domain-only
sales, so they were not eligible for this list. For example, Insure.com
was bought for $16 million as a fully-operating, profitable company. DN
Journal reports only the domain names sold after 2003 because prior
sales are not verified by credible sources
. mm.com
Date sold: July 2014
MM.com was sold for $1.2 million through Sedo in July 2014. It was purchased by Hangzhou Duomai E-Commerce Co. Ltd, a company behind other domain names Game.com, JZ.com and 4.cn.
The domain now redirects to a blank page with a random string of letters and numbers.
Date sold: November 2014
Silicon Valley electronics supplier Power Integrations bought Power.com to replace their old, less simple domain, PowerInt.com.
ebet.com
Date sold: October 2013
Cameras.com
Year sold: 2006
Sig Solares (the CEO of Parked.com) "wasted no time pony up the $1,500,000" when he won Cameras.com in an auction in 2006, DN Journal reported at the time.
Solares estimated at the time that he could make up the $1.5 million in 8 years, meaning if all went according to plan, he should have recouped his costs by now.
Year sold: 2007
"Tandberg Data, a leading global supplier and manufacturer of backup and archiving solutions, decided to take the cash offer for Tandberg.com from Tandberg, a leading global provider of visual communication products and services with dual headquarters in New York and Norway," The DN Journal wrote at the time of the sale.
The deal was actually completed in December 2006 but wasn't made public until early 2007.

eBet.com — $1,350,000
A man named Rick Schwartz registered eBet.com
in 1996 for $100. He held onto it for nearly 20 years — making a juicy
profit off of it when the domain company Network Solutions bought it for
$1.35 million.
Because Schwartz has made a number of
high-profile sales (you'll run into another much later in this list),
he's earned the nickname "Domain King."
"When do I sell? When the domain name is ripe," he writes on his blog. "When is it ripe? When the right buyer comes along."

Back in 2009, Paley Media, a consulting firm that owns a bunch of different country-specific domains, sold the URL to a "mystery buyer." Today, the URL just redirects to GoDaddy.com.
Tandberg.com — $1,500,000

MALAYSIAN WOMAN ELECTROCUTED WHILE TALKING AND PLUGGING HER PHONE
A woman has reportedly died from being electrocuted while talking on her mobile phone while it was plugged in to its charging point.
The victim, Suhana Mohamad, 30, was in her home in the Malaysian suburb of Cheras, off the capital of Kuala Lumpur, according to local police deputy chief Superintendent Abdul Ghani Mohamad Ji, who spoke to local press.
Her husband, a police officer with the Malaysian Special Branch Counter-Terrorism unit, was asleep when the incident happened, and told local paper Kosmo that it happened "suddenly" while the phone was being charged.
He brought her to the hospital but she was pronounced dead on arrival.
It's unclear how Suhana alerted her husband at the time of the shock, nor did the family provide details on the phone and wall socket charger to authorities, but it is extremely rare for people to die from incidents such as these.
Industry voices commenting on the issue have suggested that off-brand charging accessories which are not properly certified, could have electrocuted the woman. Knockoff batteries also carry the danger of exploding from over-charging.
Last year, a woman in Hong Kong complained of numbness in her fingers after using her phone while it was charging, and was sent to the hospital.
In 2013, a Beijing man slipped into a coma after being shocked while charging his iPhone 4 using an off-brand charger. His sister reportedly found him convulsing on the floor after the incident.
Another Chinese woman that year was killed when she answered a call on her iPhone 5 while it was plugged in. She collapsed immediately after being electrocuted, her sister said.
Apple said at the time it was investigating the circumstances around her death. Two months after, the company started offering its chargers at a discount to customers trading in their existing third party chargers.
